Dr. Janice Walker
Founder, Living Healthfully Now Direct Primary Care
For nearly two decades, I have had the privilege of caring for patients within traditional healthcare systems across multiple states. Those experiences shaped me as a physician, strengthened my clinical skills, and reinforced my deep respect for the responsibility that comes with caring for individuals and families.

Over time, however, it became increasingly clear that the structure of modern healthcare often limits what is possible within a single visit. Appointment schedules are tight. Access can be delayed. And meaningful conversations about prevention, lifestyle, and long-term health are difficult to fit into brief encounters—especially for women whose health concerns are complex, layered, and deeply connected to their roles at home, at work, and in their communities.

Throughout my career, patients consistently expressed the same desires: timely access to their physician, continuity of care, and the opportunity to be heard without feeling rushed. Many sought me out specifically because they valued a relationship-based approach and wanted a doctor who knew them as more than a diagnosis.

As a board-certified Family Medicine physician with additional certification in Lifestyle Medicine, I have seen how powerful it can be when patients are given the time, education, and support to care for their health proactively. I have worked with individuals who improved blood sugar, lowered blood pressure and cholesterol, reduced medications, managed weight, and regained energy—often preventing chronic disease or slowing its progression through sustainable lifestyle changes.

Providing that level of care requires more than clinical expertise alone; it requires time, trust, and partnership. As my own professional goals became increasingly focused on prevention, education, and long-term wellness, it became clear that I needed a practice model that allowed those values to guide care fully and consistently.
Living Healthfully Now Direct Primary Care was created to meet that need.

This practice is intentionally designed to support deeper physician-patient relationships. Through a direct primary care membership, patients have direct access to me, longer visits, timely appointments, and a collaborative approach to care—without the constraints that often limit personalization in traditional settings. This allows us to focus on whole-person health, prevention, and thoughtful management of chronic conditions in a way that feels both thorough and unhurried.

My work is especially meaningful to women and families who want to take an active role in protecting their health, including African American and Caribbean women who often shoulder the responsibility of caring for others while navigating their own health needs. When women feel informed, supported, and empowered, the benefits extend beyond the individual—to families, communities, and future generations.
